Spring in like a Lion

There is something
about a glass of red wine
in the late afternoon of a
frigid, blustery first day of spring

Sipping quietly while Matt cooks
in the kitchen, the smooth tones
of Marc Cohn, Walking in Memphis fame,
crooning on the radio

Knowing that I don't have
to blast out of here at 6:30 tomorrow
morning is incredibly freeing,
so I will relax and enjoy!

  1. Sounds like you must be on Spring Break. Enjoy! It is winter temperatures but nice and sunny here in Milwaukee for the first day of Spring.

  5. I enjoyed your poem. I wanted to clink glasses with you, but I still have two days to go before the relaxing begins.
